Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has reappointed Mr Olaniran Olatona as Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service for another four-year term.

The reappointment, which takes effect from Nov. 1, 2026, is subject to confirmation by the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

The governor is expected to transmit a formal request for the confirmation of Olatona’s appointment to the Assembly this week.

Olatona, a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), hails from Okemesi-Ekiti.

He was first appointed chairman of the revenue service in November 2022.

Under his leadership, the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has recorded a growth of more than 60 per cent, strengthening the government’s capacity to finance public services and implement its development agenda.

In a related development, Oyebanji has appointed a former Commissioner for Finance in the state, Mr Ishola Akingbade, as Chairman of the Ekiti State Security Trust Fund.

Akingbade, a financial management expert and Chartered Accountant, is a Fellow of both ICAN and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).

He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Financial Management and hails from Ilukuno-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of the state.

His appointment takes immediate effect.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode.
