Ekiti State is set to receive the First Lady of Nigeria and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, for a one-day working visit on Saturday.
The First Lady is expected to arrive in Ado-Ekiti alongside the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, some state first ladies and other top government officials.
A statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, said Gov. Biodun Oyebanji and the state First Lady, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, would receive the delegation.
According to the statement, Sen. Tinubu will commission a newly built Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre at the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, facilitated through her Renewed Hope Initiative.
The statement added that the First Lady would also hold a meeting with traditional rulers under the aegis of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council.
It stated further that Sen. Tinubu would flag off the All Progressives Congress (APC) women’s campaign rally for the re-election of Gov. Oyebanji at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti.
Oyebode noted that the Renewed Hope Initiative had carried out no fewer than 16 interventions in Ekiti State since 2023.
He said the interventions included material and financial empowerment programmes targeting women, youths, students, farmers, vulnerable households, small-scale business owners and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
The statement also quoted Dr Olayemi Oyebanji as expressing optimism that the First Lady’s visit would be historic and memorable for the state.
Dr Oyebanji, who inspected facilities at the Ekiti Airport, EKSU campus and the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion on Friday, said preparations had been concluded for the visit.
