Speaking at the event, the President of MWAN, Ekiti State Chapter, Dr Bolade Dele-Ojo, said the association had implemented several initiatives to improve healthcare delivery and promote healthy living among residents.
She said the initiatives included school outreaches to mark the International Days of the Girl Child and Boy Child, World Menstrual Hygiene Day and World Oral Health Day.
According to her, the programmes were designed to promote health education, mentorship, menstrual hygiene awareness and informed health choices among young people.
Dele-Ojo added that the association had organised blood pressure screenings, cardiovascular risk assessments and free medication programmes as part of its hypertension advocacy campaigns.
She listed Ado-Ekiti, Orun-Ekiti, Osin-Ekiti and Osi-Ekiti among the communities that had benefited from medical outreaches conducted in collaboration with other organisations.
The MWAN president said the association had also organised cancer awareness programmes to encourage preventive healthcare and promote early detection, adding that participants at the conference benefited from free medical check-ups.
The conference also featured a quiz competition involving three schools: Divine Touch International School, Harding Memorial School and Christ School.
Divine Touch International School emerged winner, while Christ School came second and Harding Memorial School finished third.
The scientific conference, themed “Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence: Balancing Innovation and Ethics,” examined the responsible use of technology in healthcare delivery.
The sub-theme, “From Career to Personal Identity: My Strategic Exit Plan,” focused on preparing professionals for life beyond formal appointments and the importance of retirement planning.
Dele-Ojo urged members to strengthen professional relationships, uphold accountability, nurture future leaders and sustain meaningful service to society.
Earlier, the Chairperson of the AGM Planning Committee, Dr Oluwakemi Ojulowo, said the meeting provided an opportunity for members to exchange knowledge, review the association’s activities and reconnect with colleagues.
She commended the chapter’s leadership, speakers and planning committee members for their contributions to the successful organisation of the conference.
