The Ekiti Police Command has deployed adequate security personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.
This is made known in a press release by the Police Public Relation Officer, SP Sunday Abutu , and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Ado-EKiti.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Joseph Eribo, said the deployment was part of measures put in place by the command to protect lives and property before, during and after the yuletide season.
Eribo said the command had also commenced a joint show of force in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security agencies to strengthen public safety.
He explained that the exercise was not intended to intimidate law-abiding citizens but to boost public confidence and promote a safe environment where residents could go about their lawful activities without fear.
Addressing Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and heads of tactical and intelligence units during a pre-Christmas briefing at the state headquarters, the commissioner charged officers to be proactive, remain vigilant and prioritise the safety of lives and property.
