The Wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has reaffirmed her commitment to supporting vulnerable children by renewing financial assistance for 50 orphans under her Scholarship Programme, which is part of the Widows and Orphans Hope Project.

The scholarship renewal ceremony, held at her office in Ado Ekiti, was conducted on her behalf by the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Femi Akinwumi. He explained that the initiative underscores Dr. Oyebanji’s dedication to securing the future of children, especially orphans, through unhindered access to education.

Speaking on the importance of the support, Dr. Oyebanji noted that the renewal was timely as the third academic term begins, ensuring that the beneficiaries can continue their studies without financial setbacks.

“Education is the greatest gift we can offer. No child, regardless of background, should be deprived of the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. This scholarship is not just financial aid—it is a vote of confidence in your potential and a pledge that we will continue to support you,” she said.

The First Lady encouraged the beneficiaries to remain focused, work hard, and pursue excellence in their academic and personal endeavors. She also urged guardians to guide and support the children, ensuring they avoid distractions that could hinder their future success.

Dr. Oyebanji expressed appreciation to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Premium Bank, and other stakeholders who have contributed to the success of the initiative. She assured that the programme will continue to provide hope and a brighter future for the children.

In goodwill messages, the Senior Special Assistant to the First Lady on Political Matters, Mrs. Toyin Adepoju; the Education Secretary of Ado Local Government, Mr. Oluwatoye Omotosho; and Comrade Lawrence Egbeyemi, called on the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity. They also appealed to head teachers to closely monitor the academic progress of the pupils.

The beneficiaries, who were selected from public schools across the state, expressed their gratitude to the First Lady for the continued support. Each student received a sum of twenty-five thousand naira as part of the scholarship package.
