The Ekiti State Police Command has dismantled an illegal baby factory operating in Ikere-Ekiti, rescuing six children suspected to be victims of exploitation.

The Commissioner of Police , CP Joseph Eribo disclosed this while briefing journalists in Ado-Ekiti, saying the operation followed a credible tip-off received by the command on Jan. 24.

He said operatives swung into action and raided a premises located behind Inisa Hotel and Suites, along Ise-Ekiti Road, Ikere-Ekiti, where the illegal activity was being carried out.

According to him, the suspected operator, Oluwadare Onyechi, 43, was arrested alongside four accomplices identified as Onuoha Gloria, Victoria Linus, Ihegbogu Mercy and Emmanuel Esther, who was heavily pregnant at the time of arrest.

The police boss said six children, aged between two and nine years, were rescued from the premises, while items recovered included baby delivery materials, dexamethasone tablets and bottles of Goya oil.

He said investigations were ongoing to arrest other accomplices, adding that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
