Ekiti First Lady Commissions Ultra-Modern Children’s Ward at EKSUTH ………hails ongoing healthcare reforms

The Wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji has commissioned the newly renovated Children’s Ward at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti, marking another significant milestone in the state’s ongoing transformation of its healthcare system.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Oyebanji expressed profound appreciation to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his unwavering commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure across the state.

She described the renovation of EKSUTH as “a highly impactful and visionary intervention” that continues to elevate the standard of medical service delivery in the state.

The First Lady also commended the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, the EKSUTH Chief Medical Director and the hospital’s team of dedicated medical professionals for their tireless efforts in ensuring quality service delivery and maintaining a functional, patient-friendly environment.

Highlighting the administration’s broader achievements, Dr. Oyebanji drew attention to another historic milestone, the forthcoming inauguration of the first-ever flight operation in Ekiti State, scheduled to commence on 10th December, 2025.

She stressed that this development will open new frontiers in economic growth, accessibility, and emergency response services, further demonstrating the governor’s commitment to sustainable development.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the commissioner for health and human services, Dr Oyebanji Filani emphasized the importance of the renovated Children’s Ward in enhancing pediatric care.

Also speaking, the Chief Medical Director of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Professor Kayode Olabanji who highlighted the collaborative efforts that made the renovation possible.

The ceremony culminated with the official commissioning of the facility by the First Lady, who toured the ward and interacted with staff, reaffirming government’s continuous dedication to strengthening maternal and child health services.

The newly upgraded Children’s Ward is expected to significantly improve patient outcomes, provide a more conducive environment for young patients, and bolster EKSUTH’s capacity as a leading tertiary healthcare institution in the region.
