The Wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has described the peaceful conduct of the recent governorship election in the state as a testimony to God’s faithfulness, urging residents to put politics behind them and unite in support of Gov. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration.

Oyebanji made the call on Sunday during a thanksgiving service at the Government House Chapel, Ado-Ekiti, where she expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness before, during and after the governorship election.

Speaking at the service, she drew her reflections from 2 Chronicles 20:30 and Amos 9:13, saying God’s grace and mercy had been evident throughout the electioneering period and beyond.

According to her, the successful and peaceful conclusion of the political season should usher in a new era of unity and collective commitment to the development of the state.

“The period of politics has come and gone. It is now time for every well-meaning Ekiti indigene and resident to join hands with Gov. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in moving our dear state forward,” she said.

The First Lady said the overwhelming mandate given to the governor had placed a greater responsibility on the administration to deliver more people-oriented projects and programmes across the state.

She expressed confidence that the governor’s fresh mandate would translate into greater dividends of democracy through inclusive governance, sustainable development and improved welfare for the people.

Oyebanji also commended the people of Ekiti for their peaceful conduct throughout the electoral process, describing their maturity, patriotism and commitment to peace as commendable.

She prayed for continued peace, progress and prosperity in the state and urged residents to remain supportive of government policies and programmes aimed at improving their well-being.

Earlier, the Chaplain of the Government House Chapel, Pastor Segun Awolumate, in a sermon based on Psalm 65:1, emphasised the importance of thanksgiving as an expression of gratitude to God.

Awolumate said thanksgiving remained the appropriate response to God’s goodness, especially as Ekiti witnessed what he described as the most peaceful governorship election in the state’s history.

He urged residents to continue appreciating God for preserving peace and stability in the state, stressing that a peaceful atmosphere remained essential for sustainable development and socio-economic progress.
