The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ekiti State Chapter, heartily congratulates the First Lady of Ekiti State, Prof. Olayemi Oyebanji, on her elevation to the rank of Professor of Human Resources Development and Leadership in Education by the University of Ibadan.

NAWOJ described the pronouncement made on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, as a well-deserved recognition of years of dedication, scholarship and outstanding contributions to Institutional Administration, Leadership, Quality Assurance in Education and Human Resources Development.

The association noted that Prof. Oyebanji has remained a shining example of academic excellence even while discharging demanding responsibilities as First Lady.

Reacting to the development, the state Chairperson of NAWOJ, Adewumi Ademiju in a statement signed by the Secretary,Funmi Falae said the elevation is a source of immense pride to Ekiti women and a powerful inspiration to young women in academia and beyond.

“Prof. Olayemi Oyebanji has proven that womanhood is not a barrier to attaining the highest heights in intellectual pursuit. She has balanced public service with an unwavering passion for teaching, research and mentorship, and this professorship is a testament to her perseverance and commitment to lifelong learning,” she stated.

The association also lauded the First Lady’s commitment to educational advancement, women’s empowerment, youth development and care for widows, orphans and vulnerable groups through her various interventions, including the Adire Ekiti Hub.

NAWOJ said her journey from senior lecturer to Professor will continue to motivate women journalists, students and young academics to strive for excellence despite challenges.

NAWOJ added that Prof. Oyebanji’s achievement reinforces the importance of education as a tool for women’s liberation and leadership.

“As women journalists, we celebrate a woman who uses her platform to promote access to education and economic independence for women. Her elevation is not just a personal win, but a collective victory for Ekiti women and for the education sector in Nigeria,” she said.
