Residents of communities in Ekiti East Ayekire Local Government Areas of Ekiti State have commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for restoring electricity to the area after more than 10 years of blackout, pledging support for his re-election bid.
The residents gave the commendation on Thursday during campaign rallies held by the governor in Omuo-Ekiti and Ode-Ekiti as part of activities ahead of the June 20 governorship election.
Oyebanji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged voters to support his second term ambition to ensure continuity of good governance and sustained development in the state.

He said continuity in governance was necessary to consolidate ongoing developmental projects and prevent disruption in policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
According to the governor, frequent changes in administration had slowed the pace of development in the state over the years.
“In less than a year, Ekiti State will clock 30 years and no administration has won election back-to-back. Each government introduces fresh policies instead of consolidating on existing achievements and the state keeps starting afresh,” he said.
Oyebanji added that the June 20 governorship election offered residents the opportunity to support continuity and reject what he described as politics of retrogression.
He also urged residents to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election in appreciation of the support given to Ekiti State by the Federal Government.
Speaking on behalf of residents, community leaders thanked the governor for reconnecting affected communities to the national grid, noting that the restoration of electricity had revived economic and social activities in the area.
Former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Biodun Olujimi, and member representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, Rep. Femi Bamisile, also canvassed support for Oyebanji’s re-election, describing his administration as impactful and development-oriented.(NAN)
