The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti(FUOYE) will hold its 9th convocation ceremony from Feb.17 to Feb.23.
Prof. Chika Asogwa, Chairman, Convocation Publicity Sub-Committee, made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday in Oye-Ekiti.
Asogwa said that the university would confer honorary doctorate degrees on five distinguished Nigerians.
He said the awardees include, Chief Christopher Ojo (SAN), former Attorney General of the Federation; Dr Kalu Agabi (SAN), former Attorney General of the Federation and Chief Segun Alebiosu, Managing Director of First Bank Nigeria Limited.
Others are Mrs Layal Tinubu, entrepreneur and wife of Seyi Tinubu and Chief Allen Oyema, Founder and CEO of Air Peace.
Asogwa said the convocation ceremony would commence on Feb.17 with a press conference at the Vice Chancellor Council Chamber at 1.00pm
He said this would be followed by the commissioning of no fewer than 20 infrastructure projects executed under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Abayomi Fasina.
Asogwa said projects to be commissioned at the Oye-Ekiti campus include a 1000-seat capacity auditorium, Prof. Abayomi Fasina Conference Centre and a 3-in-1 Faculty of Science Laboratory.
“Others are a new Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Centre, a Professorial Office Complex, Postgraduate Studies Complex, the Faculty of Education Building, the Faculty of Law Complex, an Innovation Hub, and a Sports Complex Pavilion.
Asogwa said on Feb.18, free healthcare service for residents of the host communities would commence at the palace of the Oloye of Oye-Ekiti, Oba Oluwole Ademolaju at 11.00am.
“On Feb. 20, FUOYE will induct its Engineering students at the Faculty of Engineering Lecture Hall, Ikole campus, between 11:00 am and 12:00 noon.
”While on Feb. 21, the university will award Bachelor’s degrees, Diplomas, and prizes for outstanding graduates at the 1000-seat capacity auditorium on the Oye-Ekiti campus.”
He said that the convocation grand finale would be held on Feb. 22 at 11am.
“The event would feature a convocation lecture by the Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Sonny Echono, followed by the award of Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s degrees, and Doctorate degrees.’
Asogwa said the convocation would be concluded with a thanksgiving service at the University Chapel on Feb. 23. (NAN)
