The Chief Medical Director (CMD), Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI), Prof. Kolawole Ogundipe, has inaugurated the hospital’s Clinical Governance and Capacity Building Committees.

Ogundipe, while inaugurating the committees on Friday charged members to uphold effective governance, strengthen professional capacity and contribute to improved healthcare delivery.

He said the initiative comprised two major components: the Clinical Governance Committee, headed by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Adeyemo Olabisi, and the Capacity Building Committee, chaired by the Deputy CMAC (Training), Dr Tope Kolawole.

According to the CMD, the committees were established to strengthen clinical governance, promote a safe and conducive working environment, enhance staff capacity and drive continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of healthcare services.

Ogundipe said the Clinical Governance Committee was expected to promote a safe environment for healthcare delivery, develop and implement relevant policy guidelines, support clinical audits and promote continuous improvement in clinical services.

He said the Capacity Building Committee would organise seminars, workshops and quarterly hospital grand rounds to promote professional learning, knowledge sharing and improved clinical practices.

“The programmes will also provide opportunities for the review of clinical practices and the promotion of improved patient care,” he said.

The CMD stressed the need for all hospital activities and procedures to be guided by clearly defined protocols.
He said every procedure must have a clear purpose, relevance and importance to the overall healthcare system.

Ogundipe urged members of the committees to be proactive in identifying issues capable of causing deficits, delays or disruptions in the hospital’s workflow.

He charged them to ensure that identified challenges were promptly addressed and appropriate solutions provided to enhance efficiency and ensure seamless service delivery.

The CMD expressed confidence in the capacity and commitment of the committee members and urged them to give their best to the growth and development of the institution.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was attended by the Director of Administration, Mrs Foluso Adelegan, who was represented by the Deputy Director-General, Administration, Mr Abayomi Adeakin.

Others were the Chief of Staff to the CMD, Dr Kamal Alabi; the Deputy Director of Protocol and Head, Information and Corporate Affairs, Mr Anifowose Isaac; and the Head, Legal Department, Mrs Seun Ojo-Ajayi, among other members of staff.
