The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI), Prof. Kolawole Ogundipe, has inaugurated the hospital’s Clinical Governance and Capacity Building Committees, charging members to uphold effective governance, strengthen professional capacity, and contribute meaningfully to improved healthcare delivery.
Speaking at the inauguration held on Wednesday, the CMD explained that the initiative is structured into two major components: the Clinical Governance Committee, headed by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Adeyemo Olabisi, and the Capacity Building Committee, chaired by the Deputy CMAC (Training), Dr. Kolawole T.F.
Prof. Ogundipe stated that the committees were established to strengthen clinical governance, promote a safe and conducive working environment, enhance staff capacity, and drive continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of healthcare services across the hospital.
The Clinical Governance Committee comprises:

The committee is expected to promote a safe and conducive environment for healthcare delivery, develop and implement relevant policy guidelines, support clinical auditing, and promote continuous improvement in clinical services across the hospital.

The committee is saddled with the responsibility of organising seminars, workshops and quarterly hospital grand rounds as platforms for professional learning, knowledge sharing, review of clinical practices, and the promotion of improved patient care.
Prof. Ogundipe further stressed that all hospital activities and procedures must be guided by clearly defined protocols. He noted that every procedure should have a clear purpose, relevance and importance to the overall healthcare system.
The CMD urged members of the committees to be proactive in identifying issues capable of creating deficits, delays or disruptions in the hospital’s workflow. He charged them to ensure that identified challenges are promptly addressed and appropriate solutions provided to enhance efficiency and ensure seamless service delivery.
He expressed confidence in the capacity and commitment of the committee members, urging them to give their best and contribute meaningfully to the growth, development and advancement of the institution.
The formal inauguration and swearing-in of the committee members was conducted on behalf of the hospital management by the Head of the Legal Department, Mrs. Ojo-Ajayi Seun, Esq.
The event was attended by the Director of Administration, Mrs. Foluso Adelegan, who was ably represented by the Deputy Director General, Administration, Mr. Abayomi Adeakin; the Chief of Staff to the CMD, Dr. Kamal Alabi; and the Deputy Director, Protocol and Head, Information and Corporate Affairs, Mr. Anifowose Isaac, among other members of staff.
