Yiaga Africa has sought stronger collaboration with the Ekiti State Police Command to ensure a peaceful, credible and transparent governorship election scheduled for June 20 in the state.

The organisation made the request on Monday during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Mr Falade Adegoroye, in Ado-Ekiti.

Speaking during the visit, the Yiaga Africa delegation commended the Police Command for its cooperation and professionalism in previous electoral engagements, describing the partnership as critical to strengthening electoral integrity and public safety.

The delegation stressed the need for sustained collaboration among key stakeholders in the electoral process and called for enhanced support from the police ahead of the governorship poll.

According to the group, adequate security should be provided for election observers, electoral officials and sensitive materials to safeguard the credibility of the election and ensure the safety of all participants.

Responding, Adegoroye assured the organisation of the command’s continued support and commitment to a peaceful electoral process.

The police commissioner reaffirmed the readiness of the command to work closely with relevant stakeholders and provide the necessary security arrangements before, during and after the election.

He said the command remained committed to maintaining law and order and creating a secure environment that would enable voters to exercise their franchise without fear or intimidation.

The meeting, according to the police, reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to promoting democratic governance and ensuring a peaceful, free and fair governorship election in Ekiti State. (NAN)
