The Police Command in Ekiti State has arrested five suspected illicit drug dealers during a raid operation in Ado-Ekiti.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Sunday Abutu, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti.

Abutu said the operation was part of ongoing efforts by the command to clamp down on drug-related crimes and other criminal activities across the state.

He explained that operatives from the Ado Central Division carried out the raid at identified black spots in Atikankan and Okebola areas of the state capital.

According to him, the suspects arrested include Jamiu Yekini, Oluseyi Pelumi, Balogun Seun, Babalola Afeez and Tobi Sunday.

The PPRO said exhibits recovered from the suspects include wraps of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, Tramadol, Colorado, cash and other illicit drugs.

He added that the suspects had confessed to being involved in the sale and consumption of illicit drugs.

Abutu noted that the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the group.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Michael Adegoroye Falade, urged parents and guardians to caution their wards against engaging in illegal activities.

Falade reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining its crackdown on all forms of criminality in the state.
