The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a suspected thief and recovered a stolen vehicle and a motorcycle.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti.
He said the arrest followed a complaint lodged on Dec. 17, 2025, by a student of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti at the Odo-Ado Divisional Police Headquarters over the theft of his Bajaj motorcycle within the campus.
According to him, operatives of the division immediately commenced investigation, which led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Adediwura Babatubde, in Ondo town, Ondo State.
Abutu said the suspect was trailed and apprehended following intelligence gathering by the police.
He added that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to stealing the motorcycle and also admitted to stealing a Toyota Camry, popularly known as “Big Daddy,” from the same campus in December 2025.
The police spokesperson said both the stolen Toyota Camry and the motorcycle had been recovered from the suspect.
He noted that the owners of the recovered items had been contacted and had identified and reclaimed their properties.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Michael Adegoroye Falade, urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible and timely information to assist the police in preventing crime.
Falade reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities and ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state.
