The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ado-Ekiti Operations Office, has launched the 2025 Operation Eagle Eye as part of measures to reduce road traffic crashes during the festive season in Ekiti State. The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ekiti State Sector Command.

The operation was formally flagged off on December 24, 2025, at the Fajuyi Memorial Park, Ado-Ekiti. It is designed to address the increased vehicular movement usually experienced during the Yuletide period, with a focus on promoting safer driving habits and enhancing public awareness on road safety.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, officials explained that Operation Eagle Eye seeks to curb traffic violations that often lead to avoidable crashes, injuries and loss of lives during festive celebrations. The exercise will involve intensified monitoring of major roads across the state.

Officers of NEMA and FRSC used the occasion to sensitise motorists on the dangers of speeding, overloading, reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. They also emphasised the importance of strict adherence to traffic rules and the consistent use of seat belts by drivers and passengers.

The agencies urged road users to cooperate with traffic officials and prioritise safety over haste, noting that many festive-season accidents are preventable if motorists exercise patience and caution on the roads.

NEMA Director General ,Zubaida Umar who was represented by the Head of EKiti Operations Office, Dr Kofoworola Soleye reiterated the agency’s commitment to proactive disaster risk reduction and public safety. She called on motorists to embrace responsible driving practices to ensure a safe and accident-free Yuletide celebration across Ekiti State.
