The Wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, through her Widows and Orphans Hope (WAOH) Foundation, has extended welfare support to widows across the state to ease the challenges of the Christmas season.
The empowerment programme, held at the Adunni Olayinka Hall, Ado-Ekiti, attracted widows from various parts of the state.
Speaking at the event, the WAOH Coordinator, Dr. Kemi Dairo, highlighted the far-reaching impact of the WAOH Initiative, noting that the foundation has remained consistent in supporting widows, orphans, the elderly and other vulnerable groups across Ekiti State.
Dr. Dairo described the intervention as a reflection of the First Lady’s deep compassion and unwavering commitment to social welfare and inclusive governance.


In her goodwill message, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Hon. Toyin Adepoju (SAPOL), urged the widows to remain hopeful, resilient and steadfast despite life’s challenges. She also encouraged them to continue supporting the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, particularly by ensuring that they are politically active and have their voter cards ready for future elections.
Announcing the benefits on behalf of the First Lady, Dr. Dairo disclosed that each beneficiary would receive bags of rice, garri and a cash token of ₦20,000 to enable them celebrate the festive season with joy and dignity.
She emphasised that the gesture forms part of Dr. Oyebanji’s sustained commitment to improving the welfare and wellbeing of widows and other vulnerable groups across the state.


In separate remarks, some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs. Bankole Omowumi, Alice Agboola and Akinnawo Temilola, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the First Lady for the timely support, describing the intervention as a source of relief and encouragement during the festive period.
The event also featured prayers and expressions of gratitude from the widows, reaffirming the WAOH Foundation’s resolve to continue touching lives and giving hope to vulnerable citizens in Ekiti State.
