The Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) in Ekiti State has honoured a set of distinguished Nigeria entrepreneurs and staff, with awards of recognition .
It is reported that the agency’s Centre Manager in the State, Mr Fasan Babatola commended beneficiaries in Ado-Ekiti yesterday at the 2025 Gala and Award programme, organised to appreciate, as well as encourage entrepreneurs in the state, who are doing the country proud in their various areas of endeavours.
Besides, he said the purpose of the event was to celebrate the distinguished entrepreneurs, excellent staff service delivery and other notable personalities that had supported SMEs/TIP in Ekiti in the outgoing year.
It is reported that at the twin events, those honoured, included; a member of the House of Representatives, Representing Ekiti South West,/Ikere/Ise/Orun Federal Constituency, AVM Adeniyi Ojuawo, (Rtd) Mr Olurotimi Popoola, GM,, Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, (BSES) and Olori Olutoyin Ajakaiye, wife of the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, who doubles as MD/CEO, Ibufe Royal Foods
The list also include: Asst. Superior Evang. A. A. Aladeseye of the
C. C. C Ekiti Region.
Others were also given awards as TIC Best Male Entrepreneur of the year,
TIC Best Female Entrepreneur,TIC Best Upcoming Entrepreneur and TIC Best Graduate Entrepreneur
He said the total Incubation/Factory Units at the Federal Government owned Technology Incubation Centre, (TIC) in Ekiti State had increased to 30 in the past months.
According to him, ” The Centre also now has 28 resident entrepreneurs and
16 graduated entrepreneurs, while there are a total of 61 products at the Centre, being currently nurtured.
” The products range from foods, cosmetics, essential oil, Animal feeds, pharmaceuticals/Herbals, engineering and building materials among others
” 21 of these products had been certified by either NAFDAC or SON, while a total of 126 direct and indirect jobs have been created”
He said the Federal Government’s Technology Incubation Programme was an economic tool that had been in existence in various Countries in Europe, Asia, and U.S.A. for a long time.
The Director said It was introduced by U.N.D.P into Nigeria in 1993, with the establishment of Technology Incubation Centre, Agege, and ultimately, the programme was taken over from U.N.D.P, through Decree No. 5 of 1995.
“The Programme was then placed under the supervision and coordination of Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, until the establishment of National Board for Technology Incubation in 2005.
Besides, he noted that Technology Incubation Programme (TIP) is also a Federal Government developmental effort, in collaboration and input from various State Governments and other relevant stakeholders, such as Research/Tertiary Institutions, Local Government, host Communities
He expressed gratitude to the Director-General of National Board for Technological Incubation, (NBTI), Dr Kazeem Kolawole Raji for the opportunity given to him to serve as the Center Manager, Technology Incubation Centre Ado Ekiti.
He appealed for more of such support and incentives in the coming year, saying the agency in Ekiti was still faced with a number of challenges that needed to be tackled headlong.
