The Wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has reiterated the unwavering commitment of the present administration to prioritizing the welfare, education and overall wellbeing of children in the state, assuring that deliberate efforts will continue to be made to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

Dr. Oyebanji made this known in Ado-Ekiti during the 2025 Children’s Christmas Party held at the Government House Playground.

The colourful event, which had a carnival-like atmosphere, attracted hundreds of children from across the state and featured funfair activities, music, dance performances, choreography and the cutting of the Christmas cake.

Addressing the children, the First Lady described them as “wonderfully made” and reminded them that just as the birth of Jesus Christ carries great significance, their lives also have purpose and meaning.

She encouraged them to be obedient to their parents and teachers, to love one another, always choose what is right and never underestimate themselves, noting that they are future leaders, innovators and world changers.

The mother of the state emphasized that Christmas is a season symbolizing love, joy, peace and giving, stressing that the birth of Jesus Christ teaches virtues such as humility, kindness, obedience and love for one another.

Dr. Oyebanji charged the children to uphold the lessons of Christmas which are love, sharing, kindness and faith in God, urging them to always be kind, bold and joyful in their daily lives.

The First Lady also commended parents and caregivers for their dedication, patience and sacrifices in raising the children, describing child nurturing as a noble responsibility and a vital contribution to building a better society.

In their goodwill messages, the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Mrs. Monisade Afuye, and the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Peju Babafemi, congratulated the children on the festive season.

They appealed to them to remain law-abiding and peaceful, particularly during the yuletide, cautioning against the use of explosive materials.

They further urged the children to be good ambassadors of Ekiti State by exhibiting good behaviour, loving their neighbours and shunning hatred.

Speaking on behalf of the children, Olúwadaraire expressed gratitude to the Wife of the Governor for organizing the Christmas party and bringing joy and smiles to their faces during the festive period.

The event was graced by several top government functionaries and political office holders, including the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Abibat Adubiaro, the Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi among others.

Highlight of the celebration was the crowning of Master Charles Ojo and Miss Asalu Catherine as King and Queen of the 2025 Children’s Christmas Party.

The young monarchs were presented with beautiful gifts by the Ekiti State First Lady, adding glamour and excitement to the memorable occasion.

The 2025 Children’s Christmas Party once again underscored the Oyebanji administration’s child-centred approach and commitment to nurturing a generation of responsible, confident and well-rounded citizens in Ekiti State.
