The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through its Ado-Ekiti Operations Office, has distributed relief materials to flood-affected residents of Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency in Ondo State.
The distribution, carried out on Dec. 17, 2025, was part of the Federal Government’s Special Intervention for victims of the 2025 flood disaster.
The Director-General of NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar, represented by officials of the Ado-Ekiti Operations Office, commiserated with the affected communities and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to providing timely and effective disaster response.

Umar noted that the increasing impact of climate change has heightened the frequency of weather-related disasters, stressing the need for governments, especially at the grassroots, to intensify sensitisation and implement policies that would help communities build resilience.
“These relief materials are not intended to compensate for losses suffered but are a demonstration of our shared humanity and commitment to supporting your recovery,” she said.
The relief items distributed included 300 bags of 25kg rice, 300 bags of 25kg maize and 150 cartons of spaghetti.
The member representing Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Ifeoluwa Ehindero, represented by his Special Adviser on Logistics, Mr Peter Paul, expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for the timely intervention and assured beneficiaries of transparent distribution.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Adu Olumuyiwa thanked the Federal Government and the NEMA Director-General for coming to the aid of the communities during the challenging period.
