Wife of the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has called on information officers in the state to step up their efforts in projecting the policies, programmes, and developmental strides of the current administration to the public.

Dr. Oyebanji made the call in Ado-Ekiti while receiving the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Information Chapel, who paid her a courtesy visit in her office.

The First Lady described the administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as one that has recorded outstanding achievements across critical sectors, noting that the government has performed beyond the expectations of many Ekiti residents. She added that the visible developmental efforts of the governor are clear indications that another term in office would further accelerate progress in the state.

According to her, “This administration has fulfilled the promises made to the people of Ekiti State to a very appreciable level. We have never had it this good. The giant strides of the government deserve sustained and strategic publicity so that the people can stay informed and aware of what is being done in their interest.”

Dr. Oyebanji urged the Information Chapel of the NUJ to continue to actively support the dissemination of accurate and responsible information that highlights the impact of government initiatives at the grassroots. She also pledged her support for the forthcoming NUJ Information Chapel Press Week, stating that promoting the work of journalists is essential to strengthening governance.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Press Week Planning Committee, Mr. Rotimi Feyisina, commended Governor Oyebanji for what he described as unprecedented interventions in key sectors of the state economy. He assured that information officers would not relent in communicating government programmes and achievements effectively to the public.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Information Chapel, Mr. Wale Obelewaji, reaffirmed the commitment of journalists in ministries, departments, and agencies across the state to continue to partner with the government in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance.

He appealed for continued support from the Office of the First Lady and expressed confidence that the Press Week would further enhance professional development among information officers in the state.
