The Wife of the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has called on alumni associations to “bend backwards” to support the schools that shaped them and assist current students in achieving academic excellence.

Dr. Oyebanji made the appeal while receiving members of the Baptist Comprehensive High School (BCHS), Ado-Ekiti Old Students’ Association in her office in Ado-Ekiti.

She emphasized the importance of giving back to one’s alma mater, noting that alumni associations play a vital role in strengthening the education system through mentorship, infrastructure development, and scholarship support.

According to the First Lady, who is herself an alumna of the school, “Old students should bend backwards to help the schools that made them and the current students to ensure their academic success.”

Dr. Oyebanji commended the Governor Biodun Oyebanji-led administration for prioritizing education, particularly through the payment of WAEC fees for all public secondary school students in Ekiti State.

She also highlighted various education-focused initiatives from her office, including mentoring programmes for girls and advocacy for improved learning environments across the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the Global President of the BCHS Old Students’ Association, Prophet Peter Talabi, described Dr. Oyebanji as “a woman of excellence, integrity, and inspiration.”

He explained that the association decided to honour her in recognition of her outstanding contributions to education, leadership, and community service.

Prophet Talabi added that Dr. Oyebanji’s exemplary life continues to serve as a beacon of hope for young people, especially girls, across Ekiti State and Nigeria.

“Her life and work remind us that greatness often starts from humble beginnings, and that education remains the surest path to transformation”. He said.

He also commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his transformative efforts in the education sector, praying that God would continue to bless and strengthen the couple’s leadership in the state.
