Our attention has been drawn to a publication circulating under the banner of an “open letter” addressed to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, allegedly authored by a group calling itself Ekiti Grassroots Development Initiative (EGDI).
We, as patriotic stakeholders in Ekiti State and committed members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), feel compelled to set the records straight and expose the true intent of this faceless group.
A DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO USURP POWER THROUGH THE BACKDOOR
The so-called EGDI is not known to have any physical presence or visible contributions to the development of Ekiti State. Rather, its sponsors are a desperate clique of individuals who, being fully aware of their political irrelevance at the grassroots, are seeking unconventional means to undermine the duly elected governor of Ekiti State.
Instead of preparing themselves to face the electorate through democratic means, these individuals have resorted to blackmail, propaganda, and subterfuge, hoping to secure presidential intervention to achieve what they cannot win at the ballot box.
ATTEMPT TO DISCREDIT BOTH STATE AND FEDERAL LEADERSHIP
In their misguided desperation, this faceless group has gone beyond disparaging the government of Ekiti State. They are now systematically attempting to attack the goodwill and popularity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ekiti.
By mischievously highlighting the condition of federal roads in the state and tying it to the President’s image, they seek to create the impression that Mr. President has neglected Ekiti people. This is a deliberate ploy to sow seeds of discontent among our people against both the state government and the presidency.
Let it be clear: Ekiti people know better. They know the difference between constructive engagement and mischievous propaganda. They know the difference between genuine development advocacy and desperate political opportunism.
GOVERNOR BIODUN OYEBANJI’S ADMINISTRATION IS DELIVERING
We reject the baseless claims made in the said letter. The administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has been consistent in delivering people-centered governance. From social investment to youth empowerment, from community-driven development projects to improved transparency in governance, Ekiti people can testify that their governor is working.
Rather than acknowledge these visible efforts, the faceless EGDI has chosen to turn a blind eye, preferring to spread falsehoods and exaggerations in pursuit of selfish political goals.
OUR MESSAGE TO MR. PRESIDENT
Your Excellency, Ekiti people are solidly behind your Renewed Hope Agenda and behind the governor you know and have openly endorsed as a reliable ally. The antics of a faceless group should not distract from the progress already being made.
As loyal members of the APC and proud indigenes of Ekiti, we urge Mr. President and all well-meaning Nigerians to disregard this baseless publication. It is nothing more than an act of desperation by those who fear facing the will of the people through democratic elections.
CONCLUSION
The faceless group behind the so-called Ekiti Grassroots Development Initiative neither speaks for the Ekiti people nor represents their aspirations. Their open letter is a desperate smear campaign, aimed at destabilizing the state and demarketing the APC both at the state and federal levels.
We reaffirm our unflinching loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and our unshakable support for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, whose administration continues to deliver dividends of democracy to the good people of Ekiti State.
Signed,
Concerned APC Stakeholders, Ekiti State
