NEMA  DISTRIBUTES RELIEF ITEMS TO PERSONS AFFECTED BY RAINSTORM DISASTER IN EKITI

In response to the recent rainstorm disaster that affected several people in some communities in Ijero/Ekiti West/Efon Federal Constituency, Ekiti State,the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Ado-Ekiti Operations Office in collaboration with Ekiti SEMA and Rt. Hon. Omoleye Abiodun, member, Federal House of Representative distributed relief materials to the affected persons on Tuesday. 

The Director General of NEMA , Mrs Zubaida Umar, represented by the Head, Search and Rescue Unit, Mr Abogunrin Adesina,  sympathized with the affected persons and re-assured them of the Agency’s commitment to its mandate in providing timely and effective disaster response. 

She also stated that there is a need for the Government especially at the grassroots to embark on radical sensitization and initiate policies to build the resilience of Communities in combating weather-related disasters.

Federal House of Representative member, 
Rt Hon. Omoleye Abiodun appreciated the Federal Government for the timely response. He stated that the items will go along way to ameliorate the effect of the disaster on the victims.

In his short speech the Ojurin of Ijurin , Oba Joachim Adeyemi Afolabi on behalf of the beneficiaries appreciated the gesture of the government through NEMA in bringing succor to cushion the adverse effect of the disaster on his people especially at a time like this.

Items distributed include: Foodstuffs such as Rice, Garri, vegetable oil, seasoning cube, spaghetti, iodine salt, tomato paste among others.
