Police Arrests 12 for Stealing Electric Cables in Ekiti

The Ekiti Police Command Rapid Response Squad(RRS) in collaboration with the Non-State Actors has arrested 12 men due to some reported cases of vandalisation of electric cables and transformers in the State. 

This was made known in a press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Abutu and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti. 

According to him, Police launched a serious manhunt on the perpetrators with the view to arrest, prosecute and cripple their criminal activities in the State.

He said that the effort yielded positive result as the Operatives, swooped on their various criminal hideouts within and outside Ado-Ekiti and arrested 12 men.  

He gave their names as:  Kabiru Abubakar ’20, Kamarudeen Adekunle, 38,  Sukurana Amodu, 26 , Atiku Abubakar, 24, Ibrahim Milasi, 26, Jafaru Iliasu , 24,  Nasiru yahuza 25, Muhammadu Aminu ,25,  ISah Zaiyanu , 32, Abubakar Rabiu , 21,  Ibrahim Rasaq,  27 and Yusuf Usman , 25 years. 

He said the suspects all confessed to the commission of the crime of vandalization and stealing  during investigation and the following items were recovered from them: Rolls of Armor Cables, Rolls of Recline Cables, Rolls of Aluminium Conductors, one Transformer Feeder Pillar, Rolls of Binding Wire, Electrical Cables and Generator Parts.

The police spokesman said that the arrested suspects shall be arraigned accordingly.

The Ekiti Commissioner of Police,  Joseph Eribo hereafter warned all criminally minded individuals within the State to repent and turn a new leaf as it would longer be business as usual.
