FUOYE to hold 9th convocation ceremony

The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti(FUOYE) will hold its 9th convocation ceremony from Feb.17 to Feb.23.

The Chairman, Convocation Publicity Sub- Committee, Prof. Chika Asogwa made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday in Oye-Ekiti.

The statement explained that the university would confer honorary doctorate degrees on five distinguished Nigerians.

The prominent awardees includes
Layal-Oluseyi, Tinubu, Senator Kanu Godwin Agagu, SAN, Chief Christopher Adebayo Ojo, SAN, Allen Onyemaka, Founder and CEO, Air Peace Airline, and Mr. Olusegun, Alebiousu, MD, First Bank, Plc.

The statement read in part: ” the convocation ceremony will commence on Feb.17 with a press conference at Vice Chancellor council chamber at 1.00pm

” This will be followed by the commencement of the commissioning of over 20 infrastructure projects executed under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof.Abayomi Fasina.

“Commissioning of projects starts at the Oye-Ekiti campus, and they include a 1,000-seat capacity auditorium, Prof. Abayomi Fasina Conference Centre, a 3-in-1 Faculty of Science Laboratory, a new Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Centre, and a Professorial Office Complex.

Others are, Postgraduate Studies Complex, the Faculty of Education Building, the Faculty of Law Complex, an Innovation Hub, and a Sports Complex Pavilion.

“On Feb.18, free healthcare services for residents of its host communities will commence at the palace of the Oloye of Oye-Ekiti, Oba Oluwole Ademolaju by 11.00am.

“On Feb.19, FUOYE will induct its Engineering students at the Faculty of Engineering Lecture Hall, Ikole campus, between 11:00 am and 12:00 noon.

“Commissioning of legacy projects will also continue at the lkole-Ekiti campus of the University and Institute of Part Time Studies, Ayedun Ekiti.

“Legacy projects such as the Ultra-Modern Laboratory, Two new 200 capacity modern lecture halls, JAMB CBT Standard capacity hall, Sports complex, Professorial Building – Faculty of Agriculture, 250 Seater Lecture Theatre, 3 in 1 1000- capacity auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture Science Laboratory, and Two Blocks of two classrooms donated by MHR Akintunde Rotimi, will be commissioned.

“The Induction of Engineering students, holding at the Faculty of Engineering Lecture hall on lkole campus of the University is also planned for Wednesday, February 19, at 3.00 pm.

“On Feb. 20, the Vice Chancellor’s Staff Awards of Excellence Ceremony, which is scheduled to start from 3pm.

The ceremony will feature Personality Meritorious Awards, Edutainment and N100 billion Endowment Fund Raising. It will hold at the Faculty of Science Lecture Hall. Same day at 2pm, students of the Department of Theatre and Media Arts, will present the Command performance of the Convocation ceremony at the TMA Complex. The performance will undoubtedly and as usual, thrill the audience and present messages needed for the growth and development of the nation.

” On Feb.21, the university will award Bachelor’s degrees, Diplomas, and prizes for outstanding graduates at the 1,000-seat capacity auditorium on the Oye-Ekiti campus”.

The statement explained further that the convocation grand finale would be held on Feb.22 by 11:00 am.

The event would feature a convocation lecture by the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Architect Sonny Echono, followed by award of First Degrees for graduates of Faculty of Science and Faculty of Education, Award of Postgraduate Diplomas, and postgraduate Degrees as well as Conferment of Honorary Degrees on distinguished Nigerians.

The convocation would be concluded with thanksgiving service at the University Chapel on Feb.23.
