No fewer than 100 families of Multiple Birth in Ekiti State were presented cash gifts and foodstuffs under the Multiple Birth Trust Fund of the State Government.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Ekiti Governor’s wife , Dr Olayemi Oyebanji stated this in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday while distributing the items saying the trust fund was launched in 2011, aimed at alleviating poverty and combating child mortality by supporting families with multiple births.

She said: “This programme has been a source of hope for families, particularly those from indigent backgrounds, who face the challenge of caring for multiple newborns.
“The Multiple Birth Trust Fund ensures that these families are not left to struggle alone, providing vital support at a critical time in their lives.
According to her, the multiple birth trust fund was established to support families with multiple births through a Steering Committee whose role is to supervise the scheme, ensuring effective implementation.

In her remarks, the state Commissioner for women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Peju Babafemi acknowledged that multiple birth remained a blessing to mankind and encouraged parents to take good care of their children so as to become great in future.
In her goodwill message, Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye appealed to local government councils to replicate such gestures in their local communities.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Felicia Akenroye appreciated the State Governor and his wife for ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of parents with multiple births and solicited the continuity of the programme.
