The Directorate of Women’s Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has intensified its grassroots mobilisation in Ekiti State ahead of the 2027 general elections, rallying women leaders and party stakeholders behind the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The mobilisation exercise, which featured women empowerment initiatives, financial assistance and engagement with grassroots stakeholders in Ekiti State.

Speaking during the programme in Ado-Ekiti, the APC National Women Leader, Dr Mary Alile-Idele, said the delegation was on the directive of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to strengthen women’s participation in the Renewed Hope Agenda and ensure that women across the state benefit from various empowerment initiatives.

She described women as critical stakeholders in the political and economic development of the country, noting that the Tinubu administration had continued to demonstrate commitment to their welfare through economic reforms, empowerment programmes and inclusive governance.

Dr Alile-Idele urged women to take ownership of the Renewed Hope Agenda by intensifying grassroots mobilisation, promoting party unity and ensuring effective communication at ward and polling unit levels.

She described Ekiti women as a formidable electoral force whose contributions would be crucial to the APC’s success in the 2027 elections.

According to her, the administration’s data-driven approach to governance and mobilisation underscores the importance attached to women, while expressing confidence in the party’s target of securing 10.1 million votes nationwide for President Tinubu’s re-election.

The APC National Women Leader further disclosed that the delegation had visited hospitals across the state, where pregnant women and nursing mothers received attention, while other women beneficiaries were presented with wrappers and financial support as part of the empowerment initiative.

The Wife of the Ekiti State Governor and Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative in the state, Professor Olayemi Oyebanji, reaffirmed the commitment of Ekiti women to the Renewed Hope Agenda, declaring their readiness to mobilise massively and vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Represented at the programme by the Chairperson of the APC Women Elders Forum in Ekiti State, Chief Ronke Okunsanya, Professor Oyebanji described Ekiti women as politically conscious, organised and committed stakeholders who understand the importance of continuity in governance.

She assured the national delegation that women across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state were prepared to take the Renewed Hope message to every community, ward and polling unit, while mobilising support for President Tinubu’s re-election.

She further emphasised that the empowerment of women remained a vital component of the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that economic opportunities and targeted interventions would strengthen women’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to their families, communities and the development of the state.

Also speaking, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, described the intervention as part of the First Lady’s humanitarian commitment to improving the welfare and economic circumstances of women.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to deploy the financial assistance judiciously towards strengthening their businesses and improving their livelihoods.

The Minister also urged the women to remain supportive of the Renewed Hope Agenda and participate actively in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The engagement attracted women leaders, APC stakeholders, coordinators and grassroots mobilisers from the 16 Local Government Areas of Ekiti State, providing an opportunity to strengthen the party’s mobilisation structure and consolidate its support base ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Some of the beneficiaries including Mrs Ajike Famoroti and Alhaja Taibat Alao expressed appreciation to the First Lady and the organisers for the gesture, describing the intervention as timely, while pledging their support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The Ekiti programme forms part of the APC Women’s Mobilisation Directorate’s broader efforts to strengthen its grassroots structures, promote women’s economic empowerment and mobilise support for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
