The Ekiti Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, on Thursday received the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the June 20, 2026 governorship election, Dr Wole Oluyede, who expressed his decision to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in the 2027 Presidential election.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the governor on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, Oluyede, who paid a visit to the governor, briefed him on his decision to work for Tinubu’s re-election.
He described the decision as part of his commitment to the progress and development of Ekiti and Nigeria.
The PDP governorship candidate also expressed his willingness to work with Oyebanji to advance the development of Ekiti, particularly as the governor prepares to commence his second term in office on Oct. 16.
The statement said the two leaders discussed issues relating to the development of the state and the need for continued collaboration among political stakeholders in the interest of Ekiti and its people.
Oyebanji thanked Oluyede for what he described as his statesmanship and demonstrated commitment to the progress of Ekiti and national development.
He commended Oluyede for placing the interests of the state and the nation above partisan considerations, noting that the development of Ekiti required the collective efforts of all stakeholders.
Oluyede contested the June 20 governorship election on the platform of the PDP, while Oyebanji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the election for a second term.
