Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has named some newly constructed government buildings after former governors of the state in recognition of their contributions to its development.
The buildings are named after the immediate past governor, Kayode Fayemi, and former governor, Ayodele Fayose. They are scheduled for commissioning on July 31 and Aug. 3, respectively.
Another building named after former governor, Segun Oni, is at an advanced stage of completion and is expected to be commissioned in October.
The state government recalled that in October 2024, Gov. Oyebanji named the remodelled Presidential Lodge after the state’s first civilian governor, Niyi Adebayo. The facility was later commissioned by Adebayo as part of activities marking the second anniversary of the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji administration.
The government added that Fayemi, Fayose and Oni would serve as special guests of honour and personally commission the buildings named after them on the designated dates.
According to the statement, the commissioning marks the beginning of another round of project inaugurations as Gov. Oyebanji concludes his first term and prepares for the inauguration of his second term.
It added that the initiative reflects the governor’s commitment to completing and delivering projects initiated by his administration for public use in line with the Shared Prosperity Agenda.
