The Ekiti State Police Command has felicitated Muslim faithful and residents of the state on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging them to pray for the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Falade Adegoroye Micheal, conveyed the goodwill message on behalf of officers and personnel of the command in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti.
The commissioner assured residents of adequate security measures to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration across the state.
He said Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and heads of tactical and intelligence units had been directed to strengthen security and deploy personnel to strategic locations and celebration venues.
Falade urged Muslim faithful to use the period of the festival to promote peace and offer prayers for the continued development of the country.
He also called on parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against acts capable of disrupting public peace or undermining the essence of the celebration.
The police commissioner advised residents to remain law-abiding, avoid spreading false information and desist from raising false alarms that could create unnecessary tension.
He reiterated the command’s ban on the unauthorised use of fireworks, bangers and knockouts, as well as vehicles operating with covered number plates.
Falade further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities or security concerns to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency line.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public safety and ensuring a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration across Ekiti State.
