The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to deploy modern technology and special voting arrangements to promote the inclusion of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and other vulnerable groups in the June 20, 2026 Ekiti governorship election.
Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ekiti State, Bunmi Omosehindemi, made this known on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti during the Ekiti Decides Citizens’ Town Hall Meeting organised by the Civil Society Network on Election Integrity.
According to him, the commission has put measures in place to ensure that PWDs vote seamlessly and are not disenfranchised, while vulnerable groups including pregnant women will receive priority access at polling units.

Omosehindemi appealed to Nigerians to demonstrate empathy and support for vulnerable voters, stressing that civic responsibility should go beyond voting to ensuring inclusiveness.
He also announced that the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will hold from June 4 to June 11, with distribution taking place at registration areas from June 4 to June 9 and later moving to local government areas from June 9 to June 11.
Also speaking at the meeting, Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, assured residents of adequate security, revealing that more than 10,000 police officers would be deployed across polling units for the election.
The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ekiti State, Reverend Emmanuel Aribasoye, encouraged residents to actively participate in the electoral process, urging citizens to see voting as both a civic duty and a means of shaping leadership.
Stakeholders at the event included representatives of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), civil society organisations and non-governmental organisations.
