The wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has urged teachers and guardians of orphaned pupils under her pet project to take greater responsibility for their upbringing, stressing the need to nurture them into responsible and successful adults.

Dr. Oyebanji made the appeal in her office during the official presentation of cash gifts and educational materials to beneficiaries of the Widows, Aged and Orphans Hope Initiative.

She emphasised that consistent monitoring of the children’s academic performance would enable both guardians and teachers to identify areas of concern early and provide necessary guidance and correction.

Encouraging the pupils, the First Lady charged them to remain diligent in their studies and uphold values that would make them worthy representatives of their families and society at large.

She also advised guardians to work closely with teachers, rather than leaving the total responsibility of the children’s academic and moral upbringing to schools alone.

Dr. Oyebanji appealed to guardians to support the re-election bid of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the forthcoming June 20 governorship election, noting that continuity in leadership would sustain the project and other people-centred initiatives of the administration.

In her welcome address, the Coordinator of the project, Dr. Kemi Dairo, commended the First Lady for her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable groups across the state.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant on Advocacy, Dr. Eunice Fasanmi, the Education Executive Secretary, Mr. Toyin Omotoso, and the Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, Mrs. Toyin Adepoju, collectively urged guardians to remain actively involved in shaping the children into responsible citizens.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Opeyemi Awopetu, alongside a guardian, Kehinde Olawale, expressed appreciation to the First Lady and pledged to reciprocate the gesture by remaining focused on their education.
