The Triple Green Environmental Development Foundation, TGED Foundation, in partnership with ImpactHER, has empowered over 1,400 African women entrepreneurs with vital digital and business skills from its flagship Green Women Rising programme.
It said in a statement that over the course of four weeks, participants received expert-led training in digital marketing, online branding, advertising, data analytics, and Google workspace tools.
The statement noted that the Green Women Rising was designed not only to address the digital divide that hinders women entrepreneurs in Africa but also to position women’s empowerment as a central pillar of climate justice.
The initiative aims to equip women, particularly those engaged in green and sustainable businesses such as recycling, eco-friendly products, and climate-smart agriculture and highlights how women can drive solutions to both economic inequality and the climate crisis.
According to the statement, the program was fully funded and delivered virtually, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for women regardless of their location and noted that these skills are not only critical for business growth but also for scaling climate-smart enterprises that contribute to resilience and sustainability in African communities.
Founder of TGED Foundation, Ms. Oluwaseyi Ebenezer, stressed the climate justice focus of the program saying “this initiative reframes women’s empowerment as climate justice. By giving women entrepreneurs, the tools to expand their businesses, especially in green sectors, we are tackling the triple challenge of inequality, economic exclusion, and environmental degradation. When women rise, communities rise — and so does our collective capacity to respond to climate change.”
Some of the Participants echoed the program’s life-changing impact: Tonia from Nigeria said that “the training was amazing, it exceeded my expectations and I appreciate the facilitators and sponsors for creating a platform towards the professional and personal development of women.”
Another excited participant Naffisatou from Gambia said: “A big thank you to TGED Foundation and ImpactHER for organizing this impactful online training. I truly learned a lot and appreciate the opportunity to grow my digital and business skills.”
According to the Program Officer of TGED Foundation, Adeyanju Olalekan, “the project is a timely and transformative intervention, proving that women can be powerful drivers of both economic empowerment and environmental solutions when equipped with the right tools.”
The foundation emphasized that over the years, they have engaged market women in environmental education and circular economy practices by organizing community-based workshops, teaching women how to transform food waste into compost manure, thereby reducing environmental pollution.
The statement further stated that “this approach not only promotes environmental sustainability but also empowers women with practical skills to generate extra income and improve household resilience. By working with grassroots communities, TGED Foundation has amplified the voices of women and young girls in climate and environmental decision-making.
“Through school clubs, community dialogues, and sensitization programs, the foundation ensures women are recognized as key stakeholders in shaping solutions to deforestation, plastic waste, and other pressing environmental issues. This has fostered confidence, leadership, and active participation among women who were previously excluded from such conversations.
“Through these initiatives, TGED Foundation has consistently positioned women not just as beneficiaries, but as agents of change, capable of driving Africa’s transition to a greener, more inclusive economy.
“Looking to the future, TGED Foundation is exploring the possibility of a second edition of Green Women Rising, with the vision of reaching more women entrepreneurs across Africa and expanding the impact of this initiative.”
Meanwhile, all participants of the Green Women Rising program received Certificates of Participation, and TGED Foundation has announced plans to document their success stories as impact case studies to inspire wider change.
