The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ekiti State Chapter, has called on residents of the state, particularly women, to participate actively in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairperson, Mrs. Adewumi Ademiju, and the Secretary, Mrs. Funmi Falae, the Association stressed that voter registration remains the first step toward meaningful participation in governance and democratic processes.

Mrs. Ademiju noted that women, who make up a significant portion of the electorates must seize the opportunity to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as a tool to influence policies and leadership across all levels.

“Women cannot afford to sit on the sidelines. Registering to vote is both a duty and a power that guarantees our voices are heard in shaping the future of our communities,” the statement read in part.

NAWOJ further appealed to community leaders, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to intensify awareness campaigns that will encourage more residents to register before the exercise closes.

The Association reaffirmed its commitment to promoting inclusive governance, empowering women, and amplifying their voices in the political space.
