…Commends Workers’ Support for BAO Administration

Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has appealed to members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ekiti State Chapter, to continue to stand by the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and reciprocate its people-oriented policies with support for a second term in office.

Dr. Oyebanji made the appeal while hosting the leadership of the NLC at her office in Ado-Ekiti during a courtesy visit, where the union formally presented the executives of its Women’s Wing.

The First Lady commended the labour leaders for conducting themselves with decorum and steering clear of partisan activities that could jeopardize the progress of the state. She stressed that industrial harmony remained critical to achieving the administration’s development agenda.

“I sincerely appreciate the Nigeria Labour Congress in Ekiti State for your maturity and collaborative spirit. My doors remain open for you to engage me on any matter affecting the union, and I assure you of my support as we work together for the good of our state,” she said.

In his remarks, the NLC Chairman, Comrade Olatunde Aluko, praised the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, particularly in the areas of prompt salary payments, provision of palliatives, and infrastructural development across the state. He expressed confidence in the government’s seven-pillar agenda, which he described as a blueprint for sustainable growth.

“Governor Oyebanji’s policies have restored workers’ confidence in government. As union leaders, we believe these achievements must be consolidated, and we are determined to mobilize our members to ensure continuity,” Aluko affirmed.

Also speaking, the Chairperson of the NLC Women’s Wing, Mrs. Bade Gboyega, commended Dr. Oyebanji’s empowerment programmes under her WAOH Foundation, which she noted have positively impacted widows, orphans, the aged, and other vulnerable groups. She described the current government as the most worker-friendly in Ekiti State’s history.

She emphasized that the prompt payment of salaries, gratuities, and allowances had boosted morale and productivity among the workforce, while lauding the First Lady as a strong pillar of support to the labour movement.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of a portrait of Dr. Oyebanji by the NLC executives, as a token of appreciation and a symbol of the union’s goodwill towards her.
