EKSG Moves To Talkle Medical and Health Quackery

….As House of Assembly Commits Quality of Care Bill to Public Hearing

The Ekiti State government has said that the proposed Quality of Care Bill 2025 currently before the State House of Assembly,was designed to create a mechanism setting , monitoring and enforcing standards in both public and private health facilities across the state.

The Commissioner for Health and Human Services , Dr Oyebanji Filani stated this during the Public hearing of the Bill at the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

Dr Filani represented by the Permanenent Secretary Ministry of Health and Human Services, Mr Olusola Gbenga-Igotun stated that the bill seeks to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery standards in the state.

The Commissioner noted that the bill was desirable and needed robust contributions from stakeholders at the public hearing.

He stated that the law will ensure accountability and uniformity in the healthcare delivery, aligning with the best global practices, prevent malpractices, promote quality services as well as foster citizen’s confidence in the healthcare sytem of the state.

Earlier in her remarks, the Chairperson, House of Assembly Committee on Health, Human Services and HIV/AIDS ,Hon Abimbola Solanke explained that the Public Hearing forum represented a significant step in the collective journey towards building a healthcare system that is not only accessible and affordable but also consistently safe and responsive.

Hon. Solake emphasised that the bill was not just another piece of legislation but represents a vision that every citizen of Ekiti state deserves access to high-quality health care that is respectful, timely and based on best available evidence.

“Today’s public hearing provides opportunity for inclusive dialogue. We are here to listen, learn. and enrich the bill with your invaluable insights from healthcare professionals, civil society organisations, development partners, and other key stakeholders”. She said.

The Committee chairperson lauded the efforts and commitment of the State government at improving the health outcomes of the state.

Stakeholders at the public hearing include; Members of the House Committee on Health and HIV/AIDs, heads of health agencies, medical and health professionals, relevant medical and health Associations, legal practitioners, private medical practitioners, journalists, CSOs among others
