………Beneficiaries Pray for Tinubu’s wife, Appreciates the Oyebanjis
Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, on Thursday distributed N25 million cash support to 250 elderly citizens on behalf of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Each of the 250 senior citizens drawn from all the 16 Local Government Areas and the 22 Local Council Development Areas received N100,000 under Mrs. Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS).
Dr. Oyebanji said the gesture demonstrated the passion of the President’s wife for the elderly citizens who are 65 years and above in all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory and veterans from the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA).
Apart from the financial largesse, the beneficiaries also benefited from the free medical check-up sponsored by Governor Biodun Oyebanji who was celebrating his 56th birthday.
The cash support was aimed at cushioning the effect of the economic situation in the country and to alleviate their burdens during this festive period. There was loud ovation in the hall when the Dr Oyebanji announced that each of the beneficiaries would smile home with N100,000.
The Governor’s wife revealed that Mrs. Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) has lots of goodies including scholarships for indigent students, grants for the aged involved in subsistence farming, among others.
Dr. Oyebanji explained that the N950 million special cash support from the stable of the nation’s First Lady was not government sponsored and was extended to all the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
She added that the scheme was without any political colouration as it touches all the states of the federation irrespective of the party in power in those states and irrespective of the parties the beneficiaries voted for.
Dr. Oyebanji used the opportunity of the forum to canvass support of the people of the state for her husband for th good governance being witnessed in the state to continue.
“I want to appreciate your support for our Governor, he needs more support from you for the good work to continue. The work has started, it can only get better.
She also advocated for prayers for President Bola Tinubu for him to lead the nation aright and for his wife to keep on making the difference in the lives of Nigerians especially the less privileged.
The benefiting elderly citizens were full of praises and prayers for Mrs Tinubu for doling out N100,000 to each of them as financial support at a time they least expected. They also hailed Dr Oyebanji for her acts of kindness to the less privileged.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the Ekiti All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders’ Forum, Prof. Muyiwa Igbalajobi, hailed the Governor for his uncommon care for the elderly and prioritizing their welfare.
Another senior citizen, Chief Ronke Okusanya, said it was fulfilling for governments at both federal and state levels to take interests in the matters of the elderly.
She said: “The welfare of the elderly is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative. Even before we receive any support from Abuja, Governor Oyebanji has been taking care of us. Help us appreciate Mrs. Remi Tinubu for this gesture and we also appreciate our First Lady in Ekiti for what he has been doing for us.”
The beneficiaries offered words of prayers for President Tinubu, Mrs Tinubu Governor Oyebanji and Dr Oyebanji for giving them hope and making them happy at the Yuletide season.
