The 1984–1990 alumni set of Mary Immaculate Girls’ Grammar School, Ado-Ekiti, reunited on Saturday, November 8, 2025, holding their maiden get-together at the school hall to rekindle old memories and celebrate their shared history, 35 years after graduation.

The reunion, marked by warmth, nostalgia and gratitude, brought together former classmates who have since grown into accomplished professionals in medicine, law, education, engineering, entrepreneurship and public service.

In her welcome address, the President of the set, Chief Mrs. Obanor Apeke, expressed profound gratitude to God for sustaining the lives and unity of the group over the decades.

She recalled memorable school experiences including the era of the 6-3-3-4 education system and the unforgettable drama performance titled “IWA”, coordinated by the then chaplain, Rev. Fr. Peter Boye Adeusi.

She noted that although the male students in the group were moved to Mary Hill Boys High School during their senior secondary years, the transition did not weaken the bond they all shared. Apeke also offered prayers in remembrance of late classmates and departed teachers, acknowledging the lasting impact their tutors had on their lives.

In his goodwill remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Oladele Olajide, commended the alumni for sustaining their sense of unity and returning to celebrate their roots.

He encouraged members to remain connected to the school by supporting educational development projects and mentorship programmes that could positively influence current students.

Also speaking, the Special Guest of Honour, Comrade Olusola Adigun, applauded the set for prioritizing recognition of their teachers.

He noted that alumni involvement remains a critical pillar in the growth of educational institutions, urging the group to sustain the reunion tradition and strengthen their collective effort toward giving back to their alma mater.

A major highlight of the event was the honouring of former principals and teachers, in appreciation of their academic guidance and moral upbringing. Late members of the teaching staff were also remembered with prayers, including their former Physics teacher, Mr. Aluko, and Mathematics teacher, Mr. Akerele, fondly remembered by students as Orogbangba.

Also speaking was Mrs. Bola Adeniji, who appreciated all alumni members, guests, teachers, and the planning committee for their contributions toward the success of the reunion.
