Innovators at the Ekiti State office of the Federal Government owned Technology Incubation Centre, (TIC), have again recorded yet, another round of scientific and technology breakthroughs.
Mr Fasan Babatola, the Ekiti State Centre Manager of the agency, made this known in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, during a media facility tour of activities at the agency’s premises.
He recalled that the last time such breakthrough was recorded, was in March, 2021, when the centre, announced the incubation, and commencement of mass production of locally made LED Bulbs and other high-profile electrical appliances, for Nigerians.
Among the latest breakthroughs is, a fueless/electric tricycle, commonly called Keke NAPEP, or Keke Marwa, in Nigerian parlance, that can travel 100 kilometers non-stop, with just two and half charging capacity.
Others are: successful incubation of household/industrial Cement, made only from unconventional raw materials, including kiolin, and without the inclusion of top priority ingredients such as limestone and others.
It also include local production of Lawyers wigs, esthetics and costumes, among others
The Centre manager, said the feats were achieved by the centre, through three of the agency’s over 30 young entrepreneurs, currently located at the centre, where they are camped, and conducting researches, aimed at proffering workable solutions to some of the nation’s problems
He listed the three entrepreneurs/ innovators, to include: Azeez AdulRasheed, of AB Tech Electronics, whose owner, designed the electric tricycle.
Others are: Abiodun Talabi Mathew of RightEdge Limited, who researched the traditional cement, and Mrs Sola Adesola, of Afreeko Creative Hub Nigeria, who formulated the idea of making Lawyers’ Wigs, costumes and esthetics from Banana stem, bamboo, and ewedu stem among other items.
Babatola expressed appreciation to the Director General, National Board for Technology Incubation, Abuja, Dr Kazeem Raji for his immense support to the Centre.
He appealed to the Federal Government to heighten it’s current tempo of assistance to the agency’s operations by considering the creation of special dedicated fund for entrepreneurs, under incubation.
Speaking with newsmen, the three innovators, expressed gratitude to the federal government for providing such a platform, to facilitate the growth of investments and realisation of visions.
They however appealed passionately to both the Federal and State Governments to support and encourage them, through patronage and adequate financial assistance, with which to promote the policy of Made -In -Nigeria goods.
They said such government’s intervention would also enable them go into mass production, and continually impact knowledge to many young Nigerians, including youth corpers, the unemployed adults and school leavers, training under them.
