The Ekiti Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo
has presented cheques of twenty three million, eight hundred and forty nine thousand, five hundred and fifty four naira (N23,849,554.24) to the families and next of kins of twenty seven deceased .
Also to the maimed officers of the EKiti Command as part of the Group Life Assurances and Inspector General of Police, IGP’s Family Welfare Schemes.
This was made known in a press release by the Police public relations officer,PPRO, Sunday Abutu and made available to Newsmen on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti.
In his address, the CP said that he is directed to give the money by the inspector General of Police,IG, Kayode Egbetokun to the beneficiaries.
The commissioner of police sympathized with the beneficiaries who lost their loved ones during the course of their services to the Nation.
He assured them that the Force under the leadership of IGP remained deeply committed to the welfare of Police Officers and their families, and will continue to evolve and revitalize welfare schemes to ensure adequate support for the families of fallen heroes and improve the conditions under which officers serve.
The CP encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the funds by channeling them into legitimate businesses and the upkeep of their households.
The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the IGP for the kind gesture, as they noted that this would go a long way to lessen the burden on them, while promising to make judicious use of the funds.
The CP was joined by Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police and some senior Officers of the Command during the presentation in his Office at Old Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti.
