Ekiti Police Command has deployed additional operatives across the state as part of measures to strengthen internal security and prevent possible breach of peace.
This is contained in a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, said the move followed recent security concerns in some neighbouring states.
According to the release, the joint security operation involves the Police, other security agencies, and local security outfits, with deployments to all border areas, entry and exit points, as well as major locations in Ado-Ekiti and other towns.
The Command clarified that the personnel on duty are from within Ekiti State and not brought in for any political purpose, dismissing speculations on social media.
Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, urged residents to remain calm and go about their lawful activities, assuring that the heavy presence of security operatives is purely to safeguard lives and property, not to intimidate citizens.
He also appealed for cooperation with security personnel and emphasized the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and order across the state.
