Founder of Tokunbo Ajila Jakande, TAJ Foundation, Dr Tokunbo Ajila Jakande has called on women across board to give out supportive hands to one another for the actualization of gender development.

Ajila Jakande stated this at the weekend when the team of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ , Ekiti state chapter visited her at TAJ Suite in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital

The TAJ founder who advocated that the approval of reserved seat for women is crucial to women participation in politics stated that the decision would amplify the voice of women. She disapproved the claim of Overbloated assembly which some stated could be the disadvantage of the proposition.

“There is nothing over bloated about it, right now, we have only 5 percent representation in the national assembly. In some other parts of the world, there is a higher percentage for women. Women have empathy. Once you have women in the house, they can say “No” to issues that will be of disadvantage to women and children.

The TAJ Founder seized the opportunity to highlight some programs recently carried out in Ado-Ekiti Community by her foundation in order to make life comfortable for people, especially the vulnerable:

“I have been doing a lot of progranmes on women-children development and also for the vulnerables.

” I’m a spontaneous person. Once I hear issues that concern women and children, i ensure I get it done.
Today, I went to the end of Igirigiri Road in Ado- Ekiti based on the information I heard yesterday. There has been only one primary school on that road. It was established in 1976, it has no water or toilets.
Ordinarily, someone else will procrastinate, but i went there with my team for an assessment.
When we got there, I was amazed at the size of the compound. It can house a secondary school and other amenities.
I called a few friends who promised to drill a borehole and build some toilets.

The government can not be every where, the community leaders should be the eyes and ears of the government and in some cases. The mouth of the government.
What I need from you is to identify the needs of the community and inform me. I will try my best to amplify it.

The NAWOJ Chairperson, Adewumi Ademiju, gave the assurance that women journalists would always showcase the development efforts of TAJ foundation to serve as exemplary acts to other women and philanthropists for the benefit of humanity.
