The Wife of the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has appealed to citizens and residents of the state to disregard negative posts and criticisms aimed at undermining the efforts of the present administration, describing such attempts as distractions that will soon fizzle out.
Dr. Oyebanji made the appeal in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday while hosting members of the EKSU Alumni BAO Female Support Group during their inaugural stakeholders’ meeting. She noted that most of the lies peddled on social media against the government emanate “from the pit of hell,” stressing that those behind such acts are enemies of the state who do not mean well for its development.
Commending the female alumni group for their thoughtfulness and commitment, the First Lady described their initiative as both noble and strategic in mobilizing women toward the re-election bid of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. She emphasized that the gathering went beyond political support, pointing to a broader shared responsibility of building the Ekiti dream rooted in inclusiveness, service, and sustainable development.
“This gathering is not just about supporting Governor Oyebanji, It is about reinforcing our responsibility to build an inclusive and developed Ekiti. His vision is rooted in service and sustainable growth, and for this to be realized, women must remain active partners, lending their voices, talents, and networks.” She said.
Dr. Oyebanji praised the group for demonstrating the power of collective action by uniting under one umbrella, which she said would amplify impact and ensure the benefits of governance reach families and communities across the state.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Coordinator of the group, Dr. Bolanle Adeoluwa, affirmed the association’s dedication to working tirelessly for the success and continuity of the present administration. According to her, history has proven that women are indispensable partners in governance and political success, particularly through grassroots mobilization.
She also lauded the governor’s humility and the First Lady’s passion for women and children, evident in initiatives such as the Adire Ekiti Hub, Back-to-School projects, and the WAOH Foundation.
The Vice President of EKSU Alumni, Mrs. Olusegun Folashade, who represented the Global President of the Alumni Association, appreciated members for pledging their support to the governor.
In their messages of goodwill, the Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bolaji Olagbaju, the Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, who represented the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye and the Director General of the Bureau of Community Communications, Mrs. Mary Oso-Omotoso, all charged members of the support group to return to their localities to build the people’s confidence in the government by highlighting its people-oriented projects since inception.
A guest lecturer at the event, Dr. Dotun Adetuberu, urged the women to embrace unity of purpose, remain courageous, and demonstrate determination in promoting the ideals of the Oyebanji-led administration.
