Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has congratulated his Ondo State counterpart, Mr Lucky Ayedatiwa, on the affirmation of his election by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

He noted that democracy and the rule of law are winners in the Ondo State governorship case having been tested at the Tribunal level Appeal Court level and Supreme Court level.

The Governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode, urged Governor Ayedatiwa to see the highest judicial affirmation of his electoral victory as a motivation to continue to give his best to the people of Ondo State.

Governor Oyebanji noted that the conclusion of the Ondo governorship election case at the nation’s apex court, and the attendant applause it received from the people, bear eloquent testimony to the love the people have for his administration.

Similarly, Oyebanji praised the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate who is the appellant, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, for his decision to withdraw the case from the Supreme Court thereby ending the process earlier than expected. He described Agboola’s action as a reflection of his political maturity and love for unity and development in the sunshine state.

He urged the people of Ondo to come together and support Governor Ayedatiwa in his task of translating his vision to reality for the benefit of the State.

Consequent upon Hon. Ajayi’s application to withdraw the case, the Supreme Court subsequently strike it out and confirmed the electoral victory secured by Ayedatiwa and the concurrence of the verdicts of the Election Petition Tribunal and the Appeal Court.

Governor Oyebanji also congratulated the leadership of the APC in Ondo State, Southwest and at the national level for the victory, which, according to him, further confirmed that Nigerians appreciate the impact of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as well as development efforts of the APC- led government across the states.
