Three days to the Presidential and National Assembly elections, the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji has urged the women wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to intensify more house to house campaign to ensure the victory of the party candidates seeking elective offices in the coming Saturday’s general election.
Dr Oyebanji made the call in Ado Ekiti at a meeting Organized by Mrs Oluwayemisi Bamidele, wife of Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele and the MOB campaign group with women Leaders at various 57 wards across Ekiti Central Senatorial District.
The Governor’s wife who explained that women’s vote is highly significant in any election, appealed to them to canvass for vote in the few hours before the end of campaign window.
Earlier in his remarks, the member representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele said within the shortest period of time of campaign for the coming election, more votes could still be achieved from women folk.
Bamidele pledged to keep giving back to the people and assured a relentless effort at empowering the people at Ekiti central Senatorial District.
According to him, plans had been concluded to train about six hundred youths in skill acquistion next week, saying that such empowerment would continue even after securing victory in the coming election.
The Ekiti Central Senitorial District women Leader, Mrs Yemisi Adedire also urged the APC women to mobilize for the emergence of all APC candidates vying for elective positions.
Wife of the Senator, Mrs Oluyemisi Bamidele and the wife of APC candidate jostling for Ekiti Central federal constituency one, Mrs oluwakemi Fatoba appreciated the party loyalists for their support and urged them to be committed to the emergence of members seeking elective offices knowing fully that women have the numerical strength to win elections.
Also, the APC candidate for Ekiti State House of Assembly, Ado constituency I, Hon. Bolaji Olagbaju stated that victory achieved on Saturday would open door for all other APC candidates in the March 11th poll.
She therefore challenge the women to put in more efforts into the campaign and ensure victory for the party.
At the event, items such as rice, gaari, salt, among others were distributed to the women to cushion the effect of Naira scarcity affecting the people.
Dignitaries at the meeting included prince Akintade Olaisade, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaja Abibat Adubiaro among many other Party stalwarts.
