The beneficiaries of the cash gifts recently given to some vulnerable citizens, have lauded the Wife of the Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji for her act of compassion to the needy.
They expressed satisfaction and gratitude that the cash intervention by Dr Oyebanji was timely.
Meanwhile, the wife of the Governor has urged beneficiaries of the intervention to use the money for the purpose for which it was requested. She also disclosed that the fiancial assistance would be done in batches, assuring that every request would be attended to.
Dr Oyebanji stated this at an empowerment programme organized by her office in Ado Ekiti. Represented by the Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation, Hon. Toyin Adepoju, the Wife of the Governor called on widows among the beneficiaries to key into her pet project which centered on widows and orphans in the state.
Recounting their experiences regarding Dr Oyebanji’s financial assistance, one of the beneficiaries, a 52-year-old man, Mr. Dada Aina, explained how the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji responded to his request for financial assistance regarding a leg ailment.
Aima said he wasn’t expecting anything soon when he came to the office few weeks ago to submit a letter of assistance.
“I was shocked when I received a call from one of Oyebanji’s aides that my request had been granted.
“I have been treating my leg for awhile and needed additional financial help. I was advised to go to Governor Oyebanji but I declined knowing well he was doing a lot for the state and saddled with other responsibilities.
“I followed my instinct and decided to take my letter to the First Lady’s office. Lo and behold! I received a call few days after submitting the letter that the request had been granted.
“I came here today and was handed some cash. I felt so happy, not only because of the value of the money but because I accessed the first lady without much challenge. May my God in heaven bless him,”
Another beneficiary, Apostle Ojo Francis, who went home with a cash gift of N50,000 said what gladdened his heart was the fact that he benefitted from the First Lady’s largess without knowing a single individual closed to her.
“I doubt if I would have believed this if I’m not personally involved. I had always thought one must know a powerful individual or politician before he could access either a governor or his wife but I was shocked that I brought a letter without any connection and it was treated.
“I have prayed and will continue to pray that Jesus would continue to lift the Ekiti first family. My advice is that they should continue to help the needy, God too will be helping them as they move on with the affairs of our dear state,” he said.
This is also the story of a young undergraduate, Damilola Olagbemi, who also came with little or no hope to Adunni Olayinka’s office of Dr. Oyebanji to request for financial assistance to be able to pay her school fees and later smiled home with a cash of N50,000.
Mrs Eunice Oguntuase on behalf of the beneficiaries appreciated the Governor’s Wife for the kind gesture and assured her that they would continue to support the government.
Others who received financial assistance from the Governor’s wife included; Modupe Olanipekun, Adenike Agbelusi, Omotayo Abiodun, Mrs Eunice Oguntuase.
