Ekiti Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has charged Nigerians youths to have personal commitment over every other interests, that will make them to be useful for themselves and the nation.
Oyebanji, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Mrs Tola Faseluka made the call on Friday, during the Swearing-in ceremony of 2023 Batch A Corps members.
The ceremony took place at the Permanent Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Emure-Ekiti, in Emure Local Government Area.
He said the orientation course was to equip the corps members the necessary skills that would prepare them for the future challenges for national development.
The governor urged them to brace up for the challenges ahead, in order for them to contribute their own quota to the development of their fatherland.
“This orientation course is to prepare you with tools that will make you aspire to assume your role as the future leaders of our great nation.
“I therefore urged you to place more emphasis on personal commitment over every other interest,” Oyebanji said.
I’m his address of welcome, the Ekiti Coordinator for NYSC, Mrs Mary Chikezie reminded the corps members of the objective of the NYSC scheme aimed at uniting and integrating the nation.
Chikezie, therefore, urged them to uphold the NYSC scheme objective, in order to be a good ambassadors of the scheme.
She urged the corps members to imbibe the culture of doing the right thing at all times, the Ekiti NYSC slogan is ,”if it is not right, don’t do it.”
She equally reminded of the consequences of unruly behaviours, explaining that there is always rewards for diligence and hard work.
Highpoint of the event was the administering of Oath of Allegiance to the over 871 corps members posted to Ekiti, by the State Chief Judge, Justice John Apata.
The chief Judge was represented by Justice Olalekan Olatawure.
