A tour of the Ekiti International Airport by pupils and students of Tunran international School, Abekoko off Falegan road,Ado Ekiti on Monday, March 23, 2026, turned into an emotional and memorable experience, as the children broke into a heartfelt song that resonated with both their peers and accompanying adults.
The excursion, designed to expose the pupils to airport operations and broaden their learning experience, had progressed with excitement as the children observed aircraft movements and engaged with airport officials. However, the highlight of the visit came after the activities had wound down.
Addressing the pupils, the tour coordinator encouraged them to show appreciation to their parents for the sacrifices made in facilitating the excursion. In a spontaneous moment, the children were asked to sing a song of their choice.
What followed was an impromptu choral performance led by a young pupil. The children sang a popular tune centred on love and gratitude, with lyrics expressing unconditional parental care. The performance quickly transformed the atmosphere, drawing in teachers and officials who joined in, visibly moved by the moment.
Observers noted that the airport environment, typically associated with travel and logistics, briefly became a space of reflection and emotional connection.
Beyond the musical interlude, the excursion provided the pupils with firsthand exposure to aviation processes. Many of the children expressed excitement at seeing aircraft up close and learning about airport operations, with educators describing the experience as one capable of inspiring future aspirations.
The organisers also used the opportunity to commend key contributors to the success of the tour. The Airport General Manager, Charles Arogunma, was praised for his active involvement, while the Airport Chief of Security, Adepoju Sunday, was acknowledged for enlightening the pupils on aviation security.
Special recognition was given to Michael Folorunso, Convener of Omo Ekiti Ni Mi, for delivering motivational remarks to the students.
Other staff members, including Oluwaseun, Busola, Funmilola and Akinwale, were also commended for their roles in coordinating the visit.
Stakeholders described the excursion as not only educational but also impactful, noting that such experiences help to nurture ambition and broaden the horizons of young learners.
